Sportfishing Costa Rica

Costa Rica Fishing

Sportfishing in Quepos, Costa Rica is unlike any other fishing destination in the world. It's special location on the narrow, mountainous isthmus of Central America creates a unique combination of fisheries. The deep, cobalt blue waters of the central Pacific, and the large amounts of freshwater from the nearby mountains combine to create a wide variety of fishing opportunities.

Offshore waters seasonally produce large numbers of pelagic gamefish like Sailfish, Dorado, Marlin (Blue, Black and Stripped), Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo.

Inshore waters around structure and coastlines are home year round to healthy populations of Roosterfish, Snook and Snapper, as well as the usual line up of Mackerel, Jacks, Trevally, Corvina, Barracuda, Trippletail, and other reef fish and bottom feeders.

Freshwater fishing in the mountain rivers and lowland areas is somewhat more restricted seasonally but is very exciting with light tackle. Machaca, Snook, Roncador, Snapper, Mojarra, Bobo, Guavina, Mullet, and others can be caught in spectacularly beautiful settings on foot or by float fishing from drift boats.

Pez Rey is the only full service sport fishing operation in the area that can offer fishing anywhere you want to fish. Saltwater or freshwater, Pez Rey can take you there.
